Must Visit Caribbean Cruise Ports

Hi everyone, it’s Victoria, and today’s blog post is to showcase a few of my favorite cruise ports in the Caribbean and why they should be on everyone’s Caribbean must visit list! All of the Caribbean is filled with beautiful islands, but these four ports stick out the most in my mind. I have written previous blog posts about all of those wonderful places, and I will link the posts to the appropriate port to give you more inspiration to go visit!

Amber Cove, Dominican Republic
One of the few cruise ports in the Dominican Republic, Amber Cove is one of the newest and showcases a different part of the country. I personally didn’t spend much time in the cruise port itself, but besides the typical shopping experience with a more Dominican twist, Amber Cove also offers an Aqua Zone that includes a zip line and overwater cabanas for rent.

The surrounding town of Puerto Plata offers a more authentic side of the Dominican Republic, and while it isn’t walking distance from the cruise port, a taxi ride is a short drive away and there are plenty of excursions that will take you into the city center and into other surrounding areas.

Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos
Grand Turk is absolutely one of my favorite Caribbean cruise ports, as shown in my previous blog posts! There’s just so much to do in Grand Turk, both in and outside of the cruise center, that everyone can find and do something they’ll enjoy!

There are plenty of excursions that will take you outside the cruise center if you want a guided tour or a thrill around the island, but with a little planning beforehand, you could easily find a taxi and ask them to take you to where you want to go and have your own tour of the island! And if want an easygoing beach day, Grand Turk offers that as well!

Nassau, Bahamas
If you’ve cruised the Caribbean frequently, Nassau has most likely been one of your ports of call, and for a good reason! Nassau is an exciting place to spend a day exploring in, and while the area surrounding the cruise docks is very commercialized, it still has a very unique and local flair to it.

Shopping, eating, and exploring the streets near where the cruise ships dock are musts for me while visiting Nassau. Visiting the Atlantis Resort is also a must do for some people, and if resort hopping is your thing, I say go for it and go visit!

St. Kitts, St Kitts and Nevis
St. Kitts, the bigger island out the dual island country of St. Kitts and Nevis, should hands down be on everyone’s must visit list. There’s so much to do on the island, and none of it feels like a stereotypical cruise port or tourist trap since the nature has been preserved so well

Unless there’s an excursion that you absolutely must do, I would recommend looking into renting a car while on the island so you can explore the island at your pace and see and do things you want to do. The island is filled with history and beautiful beaches, so there isn't a lack of things to do. And if you have an extended time in St. Kitts, another option is looking into taking the ferry over to Nevis and spending a few hours there.

And while I only showcased four ports, every place in the Caribbean holds it’s own culture and history and has something unique to offer everyone - both as a cruise port destination and a weeklong destination spot. And like always, thanks for reading and comment down below some of your favorite Caribbean cruise ports!
