One Day in New York City

Hello everyone! It is Victoria again with a new post about one of my favorite cities ever: New York City! Every time I am able to go there, I jump on the chance...even if it meant facing my fear of flying and going up there alone. While the last time I was in New York I only spent one day in NYC, I have been there multiple times before and have compiled a list of what I would consider a perfect day in New York City. Of course, you cannot fit the whole city into one day, and everyone has different preferences, but this guide was written with the intentions of being able to be easily followed, and so I chose activities that are with a certain proximity of each other.

Early Morning: Walk on 5th Avenue
The iconic 5th Avenue is parallel to Central Park, giving the walk (or taxi or bus ride) beautiful views and a truly unique feel to New York, having skyscrapers on one side and a lushious park on the other, and offers plenty to do along the way.

Breakfast: Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Yes, it is true - you can now have breakfast at Tiffany’s! If you truly want to recreate the iconic scene from the movie, you can stop by a café and get breakfast to go before making your way to the storefront, or you can make a reservation for Tiffany & Co.’s very own The Blue Box Café. The café, along with Tiffany’s flagship store, both open at 10am (except on Sundays), which gives you ample time to wake up early enough to make your way there without wasting the day.

Mid Morning: The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Affectionately called the Met, this museum deserves a day of its own, but if you only have one day in NYC, at minimum, it at least deserves a few hours of your day. Always hosting multiple exhibits, the Met also has an extensive permanent collection that will be able to keep you entertained and transported into another age. While I visited the Met in late July, my favorite exhibit was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination;” which showcases “fashion's ongoing engagement with the devotional practices and traditions of Catholicism,” according to the Metropolitan's website about the exhibit and will be there until early October 2018.

Lunch: Hot Dog in Central Park
Scattered around the city are hot dog stands, and you cannot go wrong with one for a quick bite to eat for lunch in Central Park while resting from the morning’s adventures. Pair it with an ice cold drink or ice cream and a pretzel, and you’re good to go!

After Lunch: Walk Around Central Park
Central Park is so much more than just a park - it is also home to the Central Park Zoo and the Central Park Carousel! There are multiple events, statues, and monuments scattered around the park, like the Strawberry Fields John Lennon memorial and the Alice in Wonderland statue, which give the park something unique.

Mid Afternoon: The American Museum of Natural History
Located on the west side of Central Park, the American Museum of Natural History is absolutely stunning! Including exhibits on Earth and space, fossils, animals, the environment, and human and cultures, the museum truly has something for everyone and will keep you captivated as you make your way through the various halls throughout the four floors that make up the American Museum of Natural History.

Late Afternoon: Times Square
From the American Museum of Natural History, you can walk (or take the subway) down to the Times Square area of NYC! Here is where you will find the Theatre District, plenty of shopping, and Rockefeller Center - where you will find the annual Christmas tree come winter time. Times Square is also home to the annual New Year’s Eve Ball Drop - something you cannot miss if you’re in NYC then.

Dinner: Choose a Seat at Restaurant Row
Restaurant Row is a city block filled with various restaurants conveniently located near Times Square. Here, you will be able to find something to suit your every taste bud for every meal of the day, if you wanted!

After Dinner: Catch a Show
You’re in New York City...you cannot pass up on the chance to enjoy the night in the city that never sleeps! Seeing a show on Broadway, or even an off Broadway production, would seal the deal on a one day trip to NYC, but a concert or sporting event at Madison Square Garden or any other nighttime entertainment of your choice would be the perfect way to end the night.

As always, thank you for reading along, and comment down below what your ideal one day in New York City would be like!
