Restaurant Review: Sanaa
Hello again! Gabe here, this week I have a restaurant review
from Sanaa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge!
Atmosphere
Sanaa has
an East African, South Asian flair, and that is reflected in the décor. The
restaurant features craftwork from those region, and in one area of the
restaurant has a sort of tent canopy over the dining area. On one side of the
dining room, there are large windows which offer some impressive views right
out to the Savannah, however views will be limited when it is dark outside.
Sanaa features a few different areas where tables are situated, there is a
small bar area, a couple of smaller more secluded areas for table-service
diner, and one larger main table-service area in the middle of the restaurant.
The theming and atmosphere of this restaurant, just like the rest of the Animal
Kingdom Lodge is very impressive!
Food
Sanaa is
one of those places that has a menu where almost everything on it sounds tasty,
so I really don’t think anyone could go wrong ordering here! The Indian style
bread service, pictured above on the left, is one of the most popular items at Walt Disney World, and
rightly so! The bread service comes with five different types of bread, and
nine different accompaniment sauces, however if you don’t want all nine sauces
you can opt for five of your choosing. I would recommend sampling all nine sauces,
as they were all very good, however my personal favorites were the Tamarind
sauce, the Roasted Red pepper hummus, and the Red Chili Sambal sauce. For entrees,
I opted to try the Potje inspired meal, where you choose three options from a
large list, and it comes served with rice. For my three options I chose the
Spicy Durban Shrimp, the Chickpea Wat, and the Aloo Masala. The meal came all
at once but were in little individual dishes, which was nice since most of the
options seem to have their own special sauces and flavors, this is shown above on the bottom right. For dessert I
ordered the Spice Trade Candy Bar, which has a variety of flavors contained in
it, including a very nice caramel, pistachio, coconut, chai crème, apricot, and
milk chocolate; as with everything else, the desert was very good, this is shown above on the top right.
Final Thoughts
Sanaa
totally blew me away! Everything about the experience was great, from the
service to the food, and the atmosphere. Sanaa is a place I would definitely
recommend and look forward to visiting again, hopefully sometime soon!
As always, leave a comment below if you’ve been to Sanaa, or
now want to!
