Hi there! It's Gabe here with a look at Montserrat. Montserrat is a monastery located high up in the mountains, the site is located just outside of Barcelona, so this could make for a good day trip, and a visit is sometimes offered as a cruise ship excursion.

| One of the more popular, and exciting ways to get to Montserrat is by train, and as the location is very mountainous (as shown in the bottom left photo) there area various aspects that makes the train ride extra special. The above picture is of an older style train, that is no longer in use, the engine would essentially push the cars up the mountain. The bottom right picture shows an interior view of what the controls look like in this old train engine. The current train that takes visitors up into the mountains is very modern and feels like a train that is found in any other Western European city. |

| Once you are up in the mountains, the scenery is wonderful, With the buildings looking like they are built into the mountains, as shown in the above photo. Or arches with lush mountains in the background, like in the bottom left photo. Or a picture perfect scene, like in the bottom right photo. |

| Visitors can hike out to the a point in this picture, where they are supposedly rewarded with wonderful views of the surrounding area. |

Probably the main draw for many, the Black Madonna statue. This is located inside the church itself and there is usually quite the line up to see the Black Madonna, so it is recommended that you plan to visit in non-peak times of the day.
