What it's Like to Partake in a Debarkation Day Port Adventure

Hello again, it's Gabe! In today's post I will share my experience with a Debarkation Day Disney Cruise Line Port Adventure!

Montserrat, one of the Debarkation Port Adventures in Barcelona

Booking a Debarkation Day Port Adventure

As far as I know, these Port Adventures all have to be booked onboard, this was the case with the Barcelona debarkation day port adventures. I would recommend researching the options before you board the ship to have an idea of what you would like to book, as according to the Port Adventure team on the Disney Magic, these tend to sell out quickly as there are a limited number of spots available. It is probably best to make a visit to the Port Adventure desk as one of your first stops onboard the ship, if you are looking to reserve a Port Adventure. The Port Adventure team will give you special luggage tags to use on the last night of the cruise, along with your tickets which have the meeting time and location printed on them.

The Day of the Port Adventure

This is similar to most other Port Adventures, simply look at your ticket for the location and time, and be there at that time. Now, this is where the differences start to kick in; you will want to make sure that before you leave your stateroom that you have not left anything as you will disembark the ship as soon as everyone for your Port Adventure group is there. You may have to skip your assigned breakfast time depending on what seating you have, and when you are supposed to meet for your Port Adventure, which is fine since Cabanas is open early on Debarkation morning. Once your Port Adventure group is ready, you will be walked to the gangway, have your Key to the World Card scanned for the last time, walked into the terminal, collect your baggage (you may also carry your bags off the ship with you). Once everyone has their bags, you will be walked out of the terminal to your tour bus, where the guide and driver will store your bags in the storage compartment on the bus.

The Tour Itself

This part is just like a regular Port Adventure in any other port of call. The Port Adventure I participated in visited Montserrat, which is a short drive into the mountains from Barcelona.

The Tour Ending

This part is where the major difference is, tours will make stops at Disney Cruise Line partner hotels, some end at the airport, and others will end at a major area in the city. The tour I participated in ended at Disney Cruise Line partner hotels, and Plaza Catalunya (a major square in Barcelona). If you are ending at a non Disney Cruise Line partner hotel, or the airport you were dropped off at Plaza Catalunya, and expected to arrange your own transportation to your final destination, which is no big deal, since there were several areas to grab a taxi.

In conclusion, participating in a Debarkation Day Port Adventure is a great deal, especially if you have a late flight, or want to visit a more remote area of a city or region that you will not be able to visit on your own. As always, comment below if you have participated in one of these special Port Adventures, or have something helpful to add!
