Unexpected Disney
Hello, it's Gabe here again, and this week I have a look at some of the more unexpected and often overlooked aspects of a vacation at Walt Disney World!
Fine Dining
There are various highly regarded restaurants at Walt Disney World that serve up a wide variety of food. The picture above comes from Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Lodge, which serves up food with an East African/South Asian flair. Another highly regarded restaurant at Disney World is Victoria & Albert's which is located at the Grand Floridian Resort; this restaurant is one of only three restaurants in the state of Florida to receive the AAA Five Diamond Award, it is also the second ranking fine dining location in the United States on TripAdvisor. In 2018 Victoria & Albert's was awarded the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star award, making it the only restaurant in the state of Florida to hold both the AAA Five Diamond award and the Forbes Travel Five Star award.
Mini Golf
At Walt Disney World there are two mini golf courses, both of which are very nice, in my opinion. There is the fanciful Fantasia Garden miniature golf course that is themed to Disney's animated feature Fantasia. Fantasia Gardens is located near the Swan & Dolphin resorts, which is also close to the Boardwalk and Yacht & Beach Club Resorts. There is also Winter Summerland mini golf course, this mini golf course located near Blizzard Beach Waterpark features two 18-hole courses, one themed to summer where Santa and his elf helpers are enjoying a nice vacation, and the winter course which has a winter North pole theme.
Fishing
Walt Disney World features guided catch and release fishing excursions, which venture out into various waterways across the resort. There are various points where fishing excursions depart from, including Fort Wilderness, Caribbean Beach, the Contemporary, Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Port Orleans, Wilderness Lodge, and the Yacht Club Resorts. The guided tours last 2- or 4- hours. There is also Dockside Fishing available at Port Orleans Riverside. Fishing is certainly an interesting activity that most probably do not think about when coming to Walt Disney World!
Senses Spa
Senses is a Disney spa that some may be familiar with if they have been on a Disney Cruise. Senses has two locations at Walt Disney World, one at the Grand Floridian and one at Saratoga Springs. These full service spas can provide very relaxing experience to your Walt Disney World vacation!
