My Experience in Pisa, Italy

Hello again! Gabe here, and this week I have prepared a post sharing my experience in Pisa, Italy. Pisa is famous for being home to the Leaning tower, which is a massive tourist draw, and serves as one of the many national landmarks for Italy.

First Impressions

Firstly, I noticed that there was a substantial tourist presence in Pisa, which makes sense since one of the world's most famous landmarks is there. If this is bothersome to you, then a visit to the leaning tower probably isn't for you. I also noticed how Pisa felt like a very Italian town, now that might come across as blatantly obvious since Pisa is in Italy after all, but being there really felt like you were supposed to know that Pisa is very much in Italy. It is also obvious that Pisa is near to ports such as Livorno and La Spezia, as there were many cruise passengers visiting Pisa for the day.

The Leaning Tower

As I said earlier, the area near the leaning tower is very busy, especially with tourists; there were countless tourists taking the stereotypical picture trying to hold up the tower, so if that is your thing you won't be alone in taking this picture! The Leaning tower in real life is very much leaning, in the sense that you notice right away that the tower is very obviously not standing straight. An interesting note about the tower is that it is actually built in a sort of banana shape, as the top portion was added after the tower started to lean, and was built with one side being larger than the other to make the building appear to be more upright than it is.

Thanks for reading along! As always, leave a comment below that pertains to this post about Pisa!
